Description Princess Diana loved pearls. Throughout her life she wore the single strand of pearls with a sapphire clasp which was given to her by her parents. Diana's first choker, a gift from her father when she turned 18, comprised three rows of pearls with a turquoise and pearl cluster clasp. Her wedding present from the Queen Mum was a large oval sapphire surrounded by two rows of diamonds. Diana took the sapphire from that necklace, and had it remounted as the centerpiece for her signature pearl choker. Kenneth Jay Lane presented her with a copy of that necklace, and rumor has it that she wore it frequently. This is a reproduction of that same choker. The last photo here is a cute one of Princess Diana wearing her own necklace while dancing with John Travolta at a White House dinner gala which was hosted by President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan on November 9, 1985. You will receive in this purchase, the necklace and matching earrings. The simulated pearls on this necklace by Kenneth Jay Lane are slightly graduated in length so that they will fit flat around the curve of your neck. It measures approximately 14" (hard to measure perfectly, since it graduates in size a little), and has a built in 3" extender which also has pearls down its length (allowing for a possible wearable length between 14-17"). The four strands of pearls are individually knotted between each, and terminate in gorgeous clear Swarovski crystal studded end pieces. The large emerald cut center simulated sapphire stone measures approximately 1-1/4" tall, and is surrounded by a single row of more clear crystals. The base metal is white gold electroplate, and is meant to simulate white gold or platinum, and the pearls are very natural ivory, nearly white shade (no yellowing)...SO perfect. The stones are foil backed for brilliance. The matching earrings for pierced ears are also by Kenneth Jay Lane, and are a perfect match to the necklace. They are a smaller version of the simulated sapphire in the necklace, and measure 1" high x 3/4" wide. Both the necklace and each of the earrings are signed copyright KJL.
